Soon to be certified in power vinyasa yoga, Hayley Ninnis has an interest in integrative yoga therapy. Hayley Ninnis also owns an Etsy shop, an outlet she uses to express her love of fashion by selling vintage clothing and jewelry.
When purchasing vintage clothing, a person should understand what the term “vintage” means. Unlike thrift store clothing, vintage items hold historical or cultural significance that bring value to a piece. It also highlights a specific style that is deemed timeless, such as beaded cardigans and little black dresses. Costly, vintage apparel takes time to evaluate for quality. Buyers should use their best judgment when touching clothing to determine if life remains in the fabric. Faded garments or those that look cracked or pulled should be avoided. Extra investments can be made to tailor a piece to fit, but brittle and dry fabrics cannot be salvaged. Likewise, alterations only work on specific items, so awareness of body proportions while shopping helps one purchase garments that fit or will fit properly.
