Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory is an organization that builds baseball bats and cherishes baseball history in Louisville, Kentucky. The museum features many events and exhibitions for people from around the world. One of these exhibitions is dedicated to Jim Thorpe and is entitled Triumph & Tragedy: The Greatness of Jim Thorpe. The exhibition began on July 8th, 2021, and continues until February 20th, 2022. Jim Thorpe was an US Olympic athlete who competed at the decathlon and pentathlon and earned gold medals in 1912. However, his medals were stripped away after the International Olympic Committee learned that he played semi-professional baseball, a disqualifier from competition as he was not an amateur athlete. At the above exhibition, people can learn more about Jim Thorpe’s life and achievements, in addition to news about people who petition for restoring Jim’s Olympic medals.
